REW or Smaart SPL Meter
We recommend using the dB measurement weight A Slow (sometimes abbreviated as dB[A]S) at your campus. It is the most accurate representation of how human hearing works, and is the standard for live dB measurement
REW (Room EQ Wizard)
Open the REW application
Once open, open the SPL Meter and RTA
Once REW has been launched, open the SPL Meter and RTA windows
SPL Meter is open and running
In the RTA window, click this button to begin monitoring
RTA is currently active
Smaart SPL
Open Smaart SPL and ensure the current configuration is recalled
There may be a calibration preset on your device. This should be named according to your campus, eg. “West Base”
Minimize the large window and ensure the mini dB meter window is open by going to the View window or by pressing E
In the mini window, you can also clear the “Max” SPL level by clicking on the circle next to the level
While opening Smaart, you may see this dialog box. Select "Continue" and "Ok"
